Neurocognitive Testing in Sickle Cell Disease - What are the findings? What are the implications?
Findings from the Neuropsychological and Neuroimaging Dysfunction in Neurologically Intact Adult Patients with Sickle Cell Anemia (SCA) were reported in JAMA in May of 2010. The study was initiated based on findings from previous studies in pediatrics demonstrating clinical strokes, silent infarcts, and impaired neurocognitive performance in children with SCA.
