Comedian Kier “Junior” Spates of the Steve Harvey Morning Show is joining the fight against sickle cell disease. Spates has signed on as the national celebrity ambassador for the SCDAA after recently speaking out about his struggle with the disease.
Kwame Ohene-Frempong, son of Janet and Kwaku-Ohene-Frempong (KOF), passed away last Wednesday. You may remember that Kwame participated in a panel discussion at our 40th Annual National Convention last September. He was one of the first babies to benefit from newborn screening and penicillin prophylaxis.

Please join the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Inc. (SCDAA) as we advocate for those affected by Sickle Cell Disease. This year's SCDAA advocacy campaign will be geared towards promoting stable funding, better healthcare access, expanded programs, and increased education and awareness for Sickle Cell Disease consumers, families and programs throughout our nation. We are looking forward to an exciting event that will feature: Advocacy Training, Legislative Meetings, Congressional Luncheon (by invitation only) and Collaborative with Corporate Partners.
