SCDAA is proud to announce that President George W. Bush signed the bipartisan Sickle Cell Treatment Act of 2003 (S.874/H.R. 1736) into law.
- House Approves Talent-Schumer-Davis-Burr Sickle Cell Disease Bill (10-08-04)
“ This is great news for the tens of thousands of Americans with Sickle Cell Disease,” said Sen. Talent. "This is comprehensive health care legislation that will increase funding for treatment and research efforts, expand awareness about the disease and provide additional services for sickle cell disease patients.”

Throughout the convention week we enjoyed talking to our colleagues and seeing new and old faces while taking part in the poster sessions, shopping in the marketplace and purchasing postal items which will assists in our quest to raise sickle cell awareness.

The Sickle Cell Association of America has named Dr. Willarda V. Edwards President and Chief Operating Officer. Dr. Edwards, a practicing physician in Baltimore and the former national director of the national NAACP Health Advocacy Division, brings to the position combined years of experience in organized medicine and administration.
