• President Signs Treatment Act (10-22-04)
  SCDAA is proud to announce that President George W. Bush signed the bipartisan Sickle Cell Treatment Act of 2003 (S.874/H.R. 1736) into law.

• House Approves Talent-Schumer-Davis-Burr Sickle Cell Disease Bill (10-08-04)
  “ This is great news for the tens of thousands of Americans with Sickle Cell Disease,” said Sen. Talent. "This is comprehensive health care legislation that will increase funding for treatment and research efforts, expand awareness about the disease and provide additional services for sickle cell disease patients.”

• 32nd Annual Convention - Summary (10-07-04)
  Throughout the convention week we enjoyed talking to our colleagues and seeing new and old faces while taking part in the poster sessions, shopping in the marketplace and purchasing postal items which will assists in our quest to raise sickle cell awareness.

• Dr. Willarda V. Edwards New President (08-13-04)
  The Sickle Cell Association of America has named Dr. Willarda V. Edwards President and Chief Operating Officer. Dr. Edwards, a practicing physician in Baltimore and the former national director of the national NAACP Health Advocacy Division, brings to the position combined years of experience in organized medicine and administration.

• Study May Bring Sickle Cell Breakthrough (02-25-04)
  A rare, deadly lung condition is so common among people with sickle cell anemia that testing for and treating it could help many patients live longer, healthier lives, a study found.

• PBS Airs Special on Sickle Cell Disease (02-07-04)
  In this one-hour program, Health Choices will take a look at people who suffer from sickle cell anemia, their families and caregivers.

• Stamp of Approval (01-22-04)
  The U.S. Postal Service unveils the Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Commemorative stamp

• Purchase the New Stamp (01-22-04)
  Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Stamp to be issued in September 2004

• SCDAA to Relocate National Headquarters (01-20-04)
  The Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Inc. (SCDAA) has announced the relocation of its National Headquarters to Baltimore-Washington, DC area in early summer, 2004.
