A word from SCDAA on Hurricane Katrina

A word from SCDAA on Hurricane Katrina

The President, Chairman, National Board of Directors and staff of Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Inc., express their heartfelt sympathies and concerns to all those affected by the recent devastation caused by hurricane Katrina. Our hearts go out to our Member Organizations, their families and the families they serve who are affected in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. In this month, September, National Sickle Cell Awareness month, there are many people looking to our Member Organizations for assistance at a time when they themselves and their families are now faced with a multitude of needs.

We are asking our members and participants to reach out to our colleagues in the south via the Red Cross (American Red Cross: http://www.redcross.org/ 1-800-435-7669). Additionally, we are encouraging the public to support the SCDAA family online with contributions which they may direct toward assisting our Member Organizations affected by Katrina. We encourage you to indicate your interest in helping and remember to designate your contribution for assistance to SCD families affected by hurricane Katrina.

If you wish to earmark your donation for hurricane relief please add a note to the comments section of the donation form.
