- HRSA Awards More Than $4.4 Million in Grants (11-13-02)
The Health Resources and Services Administration has announced a total of $4,447,157 in grants from to improve support for newborns with Sickle Cell Disease, coordinate women’s health activities, and screen pregnant women for alcohol use.
- Burger King and B. B. King donates $10,000 to SCDAA (09-21-01)
As part of the program, the “Living Legend” was awarded a $10,000 donation to their favorite charity. BB King’s selected the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Inc., a 29 year old organization whose mission is to empower individuals and families affected by the sickle cell disease through education and advocacy.
- National Crisis Causes Cancellation of Conference (09-13-01)
Due to the impact that the current crisis is having on the Nation’s transportation system, the very real concerns regarding public safety and the feedback received through a survey of registrants and presenters, the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Inc. (SCDAA) has decided not to proceed with its 29th Annual Convention, scheduled for September 19-22, 2001 in Phoenix, Arizona.
- National Conference highlights Sickle Cell Awareness Month (08-02-01)
The Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Inc. (SCDAA) will hold its 29th Annual National Convention, September 19-22, 2001 in Phoenix, Arizona. The conference, “A Focused Future: Empowerment through Education and Advocacy,” is the centerpiece of National Sickle Cell Awareness Month activities designed to increase awareness of this genetic disease which continues to affect more than 70,000 men, women and children in this country.
