MOVING FOWARD WITH A FOCUSED FUTURE

2002 JOINT CONVENTION SET FOR WASHINGTON D.C.

With the official cancellation of the 2001 convention following the September 11th terrorist attack, SCDAA’s focus has turned to planning its 30th Anniversary Convention for 2002.  The conference will be held September 17-21, 2002 at the Washington Hilton and Towers Hotel in D.C.  It is being planned in conjunction with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, (NHLBI) and its National Sickle Cell Disease Program, which will also be celebrating its 30th year.

“Just as America moves forward in the war against terrorism, we will continue our war against the devastation of sickle cell disease,” commented SCDAA President/COO Lynda K. Anderson.

“Our greatest weapon is education and our largest forum is the annual convention.  To be able to once again share this forum with NIH provides us with representation from the total sickle cell community.

“We are also looking forward to convening in our Nation’s capitol and continue our efforts to achieve a legislative agenda beneficial to the sickle cell disease population, those searching for a universal cure and those providing health care and community based services,” she concluded.

For information regarding the convention or to be placed on the list for pre-convention mailings call (800) 421-8453.  You may also make your request by e-mail to rdsutton@sicklecelldisease.org.
