Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Inc. (SCDAA) is proud to announce that SCDAA President and CEO Beverley Francis-Gibson was honored with an award recognizing her contributions to the sickle cell disease community. The National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB) presented Francis-Gibson with the Civic and Community Leadership Award at a reception on September 12, 2019 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in Washington, DC.
Formed in 1947, the NAREB serves to secure the right to equal housing opportunities for all regardless of race, creed or color, under its banner of Democracy in Housing.
The reception, which celebrated “Champions of Black Wealth through Real Estate,” took place during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Legislative Conference. Ms. Francis-Gibson was on hand to accept the award during her many engagements in support of Sickle Cell Awareness Month.
“I am very excited to be honored for my work in the community,” Francis-Gibson said. “Individuals suffering from sickle cell disease (SCD) and sickle cell trait (SCT) rely on community leaders to support and advocate for them. The NAREB understands how important it is to be the voice of sickle cell patients, which is why this award means so much to me.”
