Baltimore City native, Gary Bonner, will serve as the Director of Development & Special Initiatives. In this capacity, Bonner will oversee SCDAA’s national fundraising and development initiatives.
Bonner recently served as the Managing Director at Ezra-Nehemiah Corporation. In this role, Gary led the firm’s organizational development, management consulting and nonprofit development consulting efforts. Prior to this role, Bonner served as the Director of Family Stability and Economic Success Programs at the Center for Urban Families (CFUF) in Baltimore, MD, where he drove strategy, development, design and implementation for all programming provided by CFUF.
Bonner has also worked at Azure Healthcare Services in Washington, DC as the Chief Operating Officer and as an Advocate and Board Member of DC Advocacy Partners. In these roles, he worked to secure healthcare services for adults living with traumatic brain injury, intellectual and developmental disabilities and emancipated minors who were aging out of the District of Columbia’s foster care system. From fund development to public policy advocacy, Bonner is a committed champion of the rights of the medically fragile and people living with intellectual disabilities and a fierce advocate for inclusion.
Bonner’s 26 years of private sector business experience includes his role as Director of Corporate Education Programs for Wiley Global Education Services in Chicago, IL where he headed the development of university-based workforce development programs for the US and Asia markets. In 1990, Bonner, along with a business partner, founded A-Plus Personnel Services, a temporary staffing and human resource consulting business. In 1997, A-Plus Personnel Services was awarded the National Small Business of the Year Award by the US Small Business Administration.
Bonner is an often-sought after public speaker and holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Organizational Development from Morris Brown College. Gary also received a fellowship to the Kresge Foundation’s Human Services Leadership Academy at the Kennedy School, Harvard University. Bonner is married, and he and his wife have two sons.
